Cataract Surgery

As we grow older there is a high risk of developing cataracts. A cataract is a clouding that occurs in the lens of the eye, which causes the patient to have blurry vision. Cataracts can happen for a variety of reasons, but generally it is because of age.

Signs you may have cataracts:

  • Blurry or double vision
  • Have trouble seeing at night
  • Colors seem to have dulled
  • Vision gets worse in the sunlight
  • Glares or halos around lights at night
  • A high frequency of prescription changes for eyeglasses

Lid Surgery

Dr. Makris at Makris Vision Group is here to help treat eyelid conditions and restore visual function for his patients. Dermatochalasis is a medical term for droopy eyelids. It occurs in patients over the age of 50-years-old that have excess eyelid and droopy skin. The skin can constrict the patient's visual field. With surgery Dr. Makris can remove the excess skin and help tighten muscular attachments to improve the patient's upper eyelid position and their vision. Dr. Makris also performs procedures to remove eyelid lesions and masses.

Cornea & External Disease

The cornea is the clear tissue that covers the front of the eye. Sclera is the thick, white area of the eye, and the conjunctiva is the thin tissue that protects the sclera. Your eyelids are necessary to protect these fragile structures and keep them moist.

There are many disorders that can affect the cornea, sclera, and conjunctiva including infections, dystrophies, and degenerations. Some common conditions include: corneal abrasions, dry eye, corneal ulcers, corneal dystrophies, and keratoconus.

Some of these conditions can be treated with surgical intervention. If you are suffering from cornea disease, call one of our locations today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Makris.
